You may never have heard of Frédéric Collignon, but his trophy cabinet would be the envy of any sportsman. Hailing from Liège, he has been crowned world table football champion over sixty times. He was the sport’s most dominant player on the international scene, and the sportsman with the most number of titles to his name worldwide.
In May 2017, two friends Cédric Brandilly and Nicolas Marchand, both table football lovers since their teenage years, decided to take to the road and head out in search of the legendary Collignon with a Citroën CX TRD Turbo, a Bonzini table on the roof…and a camera crew. They meet players and bar owners, and improvise table football games as they travel from place to place on their way to Liège…
This month-long road trip through France and Belgium gave rise to the documentary À la recherche de Collignon, which will be screened for the first time in Rennes this Sunday.
To get in the mood before the screening at the Arvor cinema, the association La Tour d’Auvergne, together with the two friends Cédric Brandilly and Nicolas Marchand, will be holding a big Sunday table football tournament, open to all. Warm up your wrists, and get practising your pull shots, push shots, snake shots and all your trick shots. May the best player win!
