Starting at 11:30 am at the Bassin Nordique
Barbes & Velours will be playing at the water’s edge with a disco-funk, hip hop and retro set that will feel like a day off playing hooking. The pair from Rennes will mix up a groovy stew in an ode to the 1970s, bringing back to life an old school dancefloor that you would think had been lost in the Rennes nightlife.
This Sunday, Bars en Trans will continue at 4 pm at La Chapelle du Conservatoire, with three local artists.
ReDeYe
With the personal and multi-faceted career of Guillaume Fresneau, ReDeYe is back after four years in Texas, steeped with American psyche sounds and filled with air from the great wide open. As the lead of a trio (guitar, violin double base), he offers up graceful and deep folk music with organic and analogical writing, crafted one page at a time as if it was a sketchbook.
Alter Real
Alter Real is the new brainchild of Xavier Laporte, who we’ve already seen at the helms of Falabella. Despite a deceptive first song, Nothing Is Under Control, Alter Real is in perfect control of its production, combining voice and machines to create intoxicating pop. Brimming with humanity, the group draws from its experimental approach and creates a fascinating set of masks, masterfully defining its electro-pop sound.
François Audrain
Leaving behind acoustic experimentations, François Audrain is now headed in a direction closer to pop, using electro loops and distorted guitars that meld closely with the contours of his evocative compositions. The songs alternate between tense, airy and powerful sounds, unfolding one after the other like steps in a journey where the destination is just a pretext, helped by the projection of images gathered from across the world.
