The immaterial and intangible nature of light, colour and motion forms the starting point of Nicky Assmann’s spatial installations, creating sensory experiences that reveal these natural and optical phenomena. Joris Strijbos focuses on disturbed perceptions and the interaction between image in motion and sound. His works show machines, computer programs and the physical world interacting with each other.

The two Rotterdam-based artists create collaborative works (light and kinetic sculptures, videos and audiovisual performances), stemming from their exploration of kinetic art, light and perception. With Parallel Strata, the pair takes over public space during the Maintenant festival to create a rotating strobe composition that reveals parallel strata of light. The multiple light sculptures create shadowplay with the spectators, making them the authors of the installation.
