All spring, Étienne Saglio’s ghost has been taking advantage of the pandemic to roam the empty Rennes Opera House. After haunting the banks of the Vilaine River in 2016, Étienne Saglio invites us to quietly take in his Opéra Fantôme (Ghost Opera). His flying evanescent creature, resembling a wandering soul from another world, moves through the air in a choreographed dance. In just a few movements, the quick swaying gentle electric ghost, lit from inside luminous translucent veils, metamorphoses into an aquatic creature from the deep. Then it takes on the airy lightness of a classical romantic ghost, haloed in silk sheets.
Captivated by the music of Madeleine Cazenave, this new site-specific artistic creation from Projet Fantôme, follows on from Bruit des Loups (2019) and Les Limbes (2014), as Étienne Saglio quietly pursues his journey as an alchemist of nouvelle magie (new magic).
