Marching Band Roazhon Project is a hymn to a diverse and ephemeral community of marchers who know neither boundaries nor labels. They will be hitting Rennes under the leadership of visual artist Frédéric Nauczyciel, American voguer Marquis Revlon and musical director Sylvain Cartigny. For this edition, Clément Le Goff, Rennes-based artist and ambassador of traditional Breton culture, has joined the trio. Bridging the gap between the USA and France, they create a living and participatory form with a transcultural essence, overcoming differences (in artistic discipline, age, culture and genre) to bring them together in a marching band that reinvents itself depending on where it plays, and transforms the places it passes through. What’s on offer in Rennes will not be the same as in Paris or in the black neighbourhoods of Baltimore. With Marching Band Roazhon Project, which includes amateurs from Rennes, the four artists work at the intersection of marching, Baroque and vogueing cultures.
Event organized in partnership with Frac Bretagne, le Musée des Beaux-arts de Rennes & Les Champs Libres. With the support of USA Embassy.
