La Sonothèque Nomade is a couple of artists who travel the world collecting songs and lullabies. Captivated by the diverse voices of humanity, Carine Henry and Jérôme Bouvet wander with their fairground Stroh instrumentarium, creating improvised spaces to record and listen to a cappella singing from around the world. La Tisanerie Sonore (“the Sonic Herbal Tea Room”) is a living installation built around a giant speaker cone, a poetic ritual gathering people around a song or a cup of herbal tea, to share intimate concerts in the open air. Everyone’s welcome in this friendly oasis, where every bird is a song and every song is a world of its own. In Rennes, La Tisanerie Sonore will be setting up in the courtyard of the association Langue et Communication. A chance to slow down, rediscover the pace of plants, connect with our curiosity and open up to others. A moment to let go, preserve and share our diversity and enjoy new encounters.
“Languages grow even more slowly than trees […]. Linguistic diversity is a treasure, but it is endangered.” Colette Grinevald
La Sonothèque Nomade and its Tisanerie Sonore will be back in Rennes on 3-5 July for the Les Tombées de la Nuit festival. This will be a chance to share songs collected in Rennes during spring 2020 and over the course of their sonic rambles around France, New York, Switzerland and Algeria.
