La Parade Moderne is an artistic creation by visual artists and performers Yvan Clédat and Coco Petitpierre and is a parade of ten sculptures that each make reference to a famous 20th century painting, from Edvard Munch to Fernand Léger, Max Ernst, René Magritte, Kasimir Malévitch, and others.
For an afternoon, these coloured characters will be “switched on” and brought to life as they slowly wander the streets in Rennes city centre. The ritual explores the coexistence of sculpture and the concealed body, and will be accompanied by local musicians, to the tune of Ravel’s Boléro.
Since its creation in 2013, La Parade Moderne has hit the streets of Paris, Bordeaux, Singapore, and other cities. It will be coming to Rennes for the first time for the “Sculpter (faire à l’atelier)” exhibition and event.
