BAHIA EL BACHA (FR)
Bahia and her brother Camille take us to a world where cultures merge into a universal song, with tunes that blend Middle Eastern, Argentinian, classical and pop music, carried by the polished sounds and analogue tones of a Prophet keyboard, the subtle harmonies of the piano and the heady pizzicati of the cello.
JUSTIN ADAMS (UK) & MAURO DURANTE(IT)
There is immediate chemistry when a travelling British guitar-hero, wingman to Robert Plant and producer of Tinariwen and Rachid Taha, meets the Italian tradition of the “taranta” from Puglia, in the south-eastern tip of Italy. Ancestral vibrations, traditional songs, electricity and circular rhythms, and the roots and rock sound infused with Justin Adams’ sub-Saharan blues, combined with the rhythms and harmonies of Mauro Durante’s violin and tamburello (tambourine) carve out a magnificent space of adventurous freedom, in a carnal and hypnotic trance.
BACCHANTES (FR)
When these four women, with their roots in noise and fractal pop, come together around their compendium of electric and acoustic instruments (with the Indian harmonium at the fore), the bewitching vocal harmonies and captivating four-voice baroque songs spiral like a pagan mass and exude their dark romanticism.
LITE PANEL (FR)
Influenced from a young age by electronic sounds (from filtered house to the more industrial sounds of Front 242), the Rennes-based musician has continued experimenting to offer open and unique sets, full of energy and great surprises. B.W.H, R & S records, Jonathan Kaspar, Llewellyn, Kompakt, and others are also on the programme for this late evening event.
