Volubilis installs this 80m2 house-installation with no partitions or roof in the heart of the city, as an open-air stage exposing the transparent and often deranged day in the life of seven inhabitants. At nightfall, everything lights up for a quirky family ballet. In this series of sketches depicting daily life open to all, dance interferes in small, poetic and playful ways. This delightful collective utopia full of humour and finesse combines art installation, choreographic and theatrical performance, and intimate and shared spaces.
BIOGRAPHY
> COMPAGNIE VOLUBILIS (France)
Created in Niort in 2006, this company explores different territories and unexpected and unconventional spaces not usually used for dance that feed into a choreographic story and the desire to tell stories through movement in places like markets, house and town hall facades, streets, store fronts, museums, but also theatres. This artistic team of varying size mainly focuses on the projects of choreographer Agnès Pelletier, who also created the biennial festival Panique au Dancing in Niort, a laboratory and space for invention and creation for around twenty companies since 2015. Since 2016, one Sunday a month, the Moulin du Roc national theatre in Niort and Compagnie Volubilis organise Dancing au Moulin sessions for amateurs. Through productions such as Panique Olympique, Vitrine en cours, Habiter n’est pas dormir, La gràànde finàle, Du vent dans les plumes and Le p.a.r.d.i., the company continues its work to share their craft with as many people as possible.
