Jean-Baptiste André returns with his show Floe, which was co-produced by Les Tombées de la Nuit and performed at the Étangs d’Apigné in July 2016. To mark the release of Nicolas Lelièvre’s collection of photographs on his show (self-published by Association W), the artist is returning to Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Étienne after Deal, performed alongside Dimitri Jourde in 2021.
Floe sees a body pitted against a space in a pure and unembellished performance. A man finds himself grappling with an astonishing mountainous structure (created by artist Vincent Lamouroux) that he will have to cross to save himself. He falls, climbs, waits, hangs, slips, falls again, gets up, and gets back on his way in a series of actions and physical obstacles that he has to defy and overcome. In this magnificent battle between space and body, he will be accompanied by English musician Mark Beazley, founder of the Rothko group.
