Seven fairly old characters mistakenly leave the nursing home where they live. The emergency exit door was ajar, so why not try an adventure? Why not leave and reconnect with pulsating life, heart beating wildly? Their movements are clumsy, the pace is fragile and their memory flickers, but what’s to stop them from feeling, right here, right now, totally alive? Beyond the question “What does it mean to grow old?” the Adhok Company raises another question charged with ambivalent emotions: How should you grow old?

Issue de secours suggests the idea of ageing with grace. If growing old involves mourning and giving things up, the aim here is to imagine the possibilities and joys of a new life at any age.
