To close out the fifth edition of the Autres Mesures festival, head to the Criée contemporary art centre for the launch of a wonderful and surprising musical trail that will end in a chorus of music at the Frac-Bretagne.
At 3pm at the Criée, the three founding members of Ensemble 0, Stéphane Garin, Joël Merah and Sylvain Chauveau, will perform Sonando, a suite of acoustic pieces for two guitars and metal percussion that offers a unique combination of minimalist music influences and the sounds of folk music.
At 5pm at Frac Bretagne, Julien Desprez will present Acapulco. The idea behind it was to develop a musical form capable of using and creating any kind of sound from any kind of musical aesthetic or field. This led to an electric guitar solo which clashes these various sounds together. By mixing playing techniques and the use of effects pedals, he creates an unconventional approach to the guitar, reminiscent of a dance.
This will be followed by Michael Pisaro’s Categories in Cartesian worlds by Stéphane Garin, Luc Ferrari’s Et tournent les sons dans la garrigue by Sophie Deshayes, Jean-Marc Fessard and pupils from the Rennes Regional Conservatory, and Yassen Vodenitcharov’s Les chants des montres molles de Monsieur D. by the students from the Higher Education Centre.
