“Once you’ve grown up,
you can never come back… never!”
J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
L’Arrière-pays (Hinterland) is the first episode of the L’âge d’Or (Golden Age) project. Four adults set out for a forbidden adventure in a land that doesn’t exist, the land of nowhere – childhood. With all its dreams, fantasies and nightmares.
It’s a perilous experience because the past is a foreign land. We don’t know the language or the customs in this place where people do things differently. When they arrive, strange guides find their way into the adults’ minds to help them travel through this world they no longer know.
Will they survive their encounter with the giant teddy bears who are masters of the ground rules? Will they face their fears as they grow with the bushmen? Will they find the Fountains of Youth, pick the forbidden fruits in this lost paradise? Will they be able to start over?
This theatrical adventure blends dance and song. It sees the 3 Points de Suspension/3615 Dakota collective make their return to Les Tombées de la Nuit after previously featuring in Rennes earlier in the year with De et par la possibilité éventuelle des devenirs envisageables and Hiboux.
L’Arrière-pays is a madcap and hard-to-define show which can be enjoyed as a family, or as (sensible or absent-minded?) grown-up children.
